Information For Authors

Do you want to send contributions to IDeAS?

We invite everyone to check out the About section of the journal and read the policies of the available sections, as well as the Guidelines for authors. Authors must register before submitting an article; if you have already registered, just access the system and start the 5-step submission process.

We encourage authors and co-authors to register in advance on the ORCID platform so that they can provide the link to their ORCID in their profiles on our portal in order to collaborate with the efforts to unify the attribution of scientific authorship. At the same time, we suggest to Brazilian researchers the integration of ORCID to the Lattes Platform in the module General data> Identification> Other bibliographic bases.

Revista IDeAS receives and publishes articles in the continuous flow system. This means that there is no deadline for sending proposals for publication and the publication of articles does not wait for numbers to be closed. In the continuous publication system, each article has its own page numbering (starting with 1) and has a unique number that is its electronic identifier. This identifier is called elocation-id and is unique for each article published in the same volume, and created and controlled by the editors.

Revista IDeAS does not charge fees for submission, evaluation, corrections and publication (or any time in the workflow) - no publication fees.

Check the "Submissions" page for formal requirements, expected content and recommended structure for submissions to the journal.

The articles and documents submitted to Revista IDeAS will be preliminarily examined by the Editorial Committee as to their suitability for the journal's editorial policy. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to refuse publication if it does not meet the requirements of the editorial policy. Only contributions that strictly follow the formatting and bibliographic citation rules required by the journal will be submitted for review by the peers. Those who break these rules will be disregarded.

Articles that comply with the formatting rules and fit the main objective of the journal, which is "to encourage debate and the circulation of information about the 'rural world', at the interface between development, agriculture and society", will be sent to reviewers. Contributions will be evaluated by two peers using the double blind review system, keeping the names of the authors and peers confidential. The evaluation is carried out through the journal's system using a form that evaluates several aspects of the manuscript.

The phases for assessing contributions will be as follows:

a) evaluation of compliance or not with the rules of formatting and bibliographic citation required;

b) assessment of the proximity between the article and the journal's editorial policy;

c) double-blind assessment of merit and content of articles by two external reviewers external to the journal's editorial team (peer review);

d) the peer (with a doctoral degree) will be chosen according to their academic specialty and can:
(1) recommend publication;
(2) recommend publication as long as required revisions are made;
(3) do not recommend publication.

e) if the contribution is approved by the two peers, it will be published, if it is rejected by both, it will be excluded and if it is approved by one and rejected by another, it will be sent to a third party who will decide on the publication or not of the article;

f) the editors will communicate the peers' decisions to the authors and will require the modifications suggested by them when applicable.

g) the editors will review whether the suggestions were incorporated by the authors. If so, the article or review will be published, if not, it will be discarded and the author will be informed of the reasons for the disqualification.

The Editorial Committee reserves the right to make the final decision on publication, upon satisfactory evaluation of the reformulated article.

Articles and reviews must strictly comply with the publication rules listed below.
1. Revista IDeAS accepts theoretical articles and / or research results and reviews of relevant and recent books, reserving the right to publish or not the material spontaneously sent to the editorial staff.

2. Revista IDeAS prioritizes the publication of articles and reviews produced by students of stricto sensu postgraduate courses or recently graduated. Contributions that do not fit this situation will be published respecting a maximum limit of fifty percent of the total articles published in each issue. This rule does not apply in the case of co-authors, who may have any degree, whether or not they are graduate students.
