Apresentação: Investimentos, meio ambiente e agricultura nas relações entre a China e América Latina e Caribe

A ascensão da China como potência econômica, tecnológica e financeira redefiniu, nas duas últimas décadas, a posição da América Latina nas cadeias globais de valor, especialmente em torno de commodities agrícolas e minerais, infraestrutura e energia. A China converteu-se em parceiro comercial central, credor relevante e investidor estratégico, ao mesmo tempo em que se afirma como potência tecnológica e climática. A América Latina, por sua vez, aparece simultaneamente como fornecedora de recursos naturais críticos, mercado consumidor e espaço de experimentação de novas formas de cooperação Sul-Sul. É nesse cruzamento que se inscreve o dossiê temático “As relações entre China e América Latina: investimentos, meio ambiente e agricultura”, fruto de um projeto interinstitucional entre o CPDA/UFRRJ e o BRICS Policy Center/PUC-Rio, apoiado pela FAPERJ, e de uma disciplina de pós-graduação com mesmo título, que articulou pesquisa, formação e debate público sobre o tema.
