his paper we present an analysis evidencing contrasts and similarities between the theoretical and methodological approaches of the authors Alexander Chayanov, Huges Lamarche and Jan Van der Ploeg Douve, whose main concerns lie in understanding the problems relating to the peasantry, as object study, in various historical, cultural, social and economic developments in Latin America and the world. For purposes of contrast their perspectives of study, proceed first to present how each of the authors came to the development and structuring of the concepts that give specificity to the peasantry and how they were operationalized methodologically, and secondly, we will present what attributes listed and organized by each of the authors to structure and definition of the specificity of the peasantry as a concept, can be operationalized so universalizing the purpose of explaining and understanding empirical cases.
